the city wakes up with the coming of the night
the sun burnt, spent – it’s rays swallowed
leaving behind only the shimmering moonlight.
the lights come on to watch over the city
there is a dance of lights across the streets
and the creatures of the night come out exploring.
the reflection of the buildings waltzing in the stream
wind whistling through the empty streets
nature has made peace with our greed, our misgivings.
be still in the dead of the night
merge into the shadows of the trees
breathe but softer then the single falling leaf.
you may just be a part of the romance between the city and the night.
