It’s that time, Yes, if you breathe films you will know what I am talking about. The biggest nights is around the corner. The lights about to shine on some of the best stars who have given some sterling performances this year. Its the Oscars.

Gravity, I believe will take back the maximum awards as it is very much expected to win most of the technical awards. 12 Years a Slave and Gravity should share honors for the Best Film and Best Director unless American Hustle has a con on. Yes, American Hustle is the darkest horse this year.
The boys (err) from Dallas Buyers Club should take the male acting honors, while Cate has little competition just like Lupita in female lead and supporting categories.

I am listing my selections here, and hope to very soon review each of the films in individual detailed posts. For now, the excitement is too much to contain, and here are my picks, in various (not all) categories.
Sometimes the choice is not very clear, and I have been forced to consider an alternate. However, my favorite, remain my first pick.

12 Years a Slave

BEST PICTURE
Favorite 12 Years a Slave

On one side we have history and Oscar loved topic of slavery (The Help, Django Unchained, and so on) . On the other the amazing wonders of space and beyond.

BEST DIRECTOR
Favorite – Alfonso CuarΓ³n
Alternate – Steve McQueen
Alfonso should walk away with his brilliant vision of Gravity. But, Steve, may just create history by being the first Black director to win this trophy.

BEST ACTOR
Favorite – Matthew McConaughey
Alternate – Chiwetel Ejiofor
McConaughey should take this, no not only because he became thin, but he shines. Ejiofor, is very good, but his winning would be more due to the influence of the subject of the film.
